Practice Areas
One of the most valuable assets of the firm is its bilingual nature, incorporating French-speaking (Francophone) and English-speaking (Anglophone) attorneys and therefore readily tailored to suit the dual legal system of Cameroon in particular and the Central/West African region in general. Through a mastery of these two key legal systems, we have developed the relevant expertise to address the requirements of our vast array of foreign investor clients.

SPECIAL LEGAL SERVICES
Incorporation of Companies
Our attorneys have incorporated several companies ranging from private limited company to public limited company. The procedure is simple and relatively inexpensive. The creation of a company in Cameroon is done at the Centre for Business Creation. To register a company in Cameroon, the corporate attorney is enjoined by law to request some mandatory information from the company promoters/founders. Once the process of setting up the company has been completed at the CFCE or the Notary, the company promoter must then go to the tax centre to which he is attached to register his company and thus start paying taxes. We help register both national and foreign companies.
Banking & financial law
Banking & finance law & regulation hinges on Cameroon’s membership of the Economic & Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) which has as two of its key organs the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) and the Central African Banking Commission (COBAC). This regional organization as well as the parliament of member states share law-making powers in matters of banking & financial law. Besides those relevant OHADA uniform acts in areas such as commercial law, commercial companies, debt recovery & measures of enforcement, security interests, cooperative societies, as well as domestic consumer protection laws.
Public procurement & government contracting
Procurement by public contracts is the traditional mode of delivery of public infrastructure in Cameroon. The principal instrument that regulates the procurement of public contracts is Decree no 2018/366 of June 20, 2018 instituting the Public Contracts Code which repeals Decree no 2004/275 of September 24, 2004. This law applies alongside other key instruments such as the law relating to competition, laws relating to decentralized local entities, the law relating to the tax regime of the State, the law on electronic commerce, the law regulating public establishments, the decree regulating the regulatory body (Public Contract Regulatory Agency), etc.
International trade & business ADMINISTRATION law
International trade law governs how states control, restrict, and regulate exchanges of goods and services between them and professedly aspires to lay down the rules of fair play to level the playing field for all states in the conduct of international economic relations. Cameroon adheres to the multilateral trade system under the World Trade Organization (WTO) since December 13, 1995 and was a member of its predecessor the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) since May 3, 1963. Cameroon has also adhered to the agreements of the World Customs Organization (WCO). Cameroon is equally a member of UNCTAD’s investment procedures.
